Man shot at home Monday
March 09, 2010
John Burman
Three men are in custody after heavily armed tactical officers cleared out a central Hamilton home this morning where a man was shot Monday afternoon.
Police are not saying if the heavily armed response to a break-and-enter call to the home on Bristol Street, near Barton Street East and Sanford Avenue North, just before 9 a.m. was in connection with the shooting.
Inspector Warren Korol said the trio were all the occupants of the non-descript two storey brick home and are in custody “for investigative purposes.”
A 42-year-old man was shot in the foot there Monday at 3 p.m. Police caught up with the wounded man at hamilton General Hospital.
He suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Sergeant Terri-Lynn Collings said police are trying to learn if the shooting was criminal or accidental. The wounded man is being “somewhat unco-operative, “ she said.
Police removed all three men from the home shortly before 10 a.m. and loaded them into cruisers.
Neighbours called police when they saw a man who had been on the door of the home remove a front screen and open a window. He then climbed inside and closed the window.
No names have been released. The incident is still under investigation.
