Re: Our flag

I am starting to wonder how much pride and love for our country some people have. Look around our city and see how many people have our Canadian flag on a flagpole -- and the flag is ripped and torn. Walk down Ottawa Street North and look up at the flags flying above the stores. It is disgusting to fly our flag in the condition these flags are in. I have even seen Canadian flags at some fire stations that need to be replaced.

Our brave troops have fought and some have given their lives marching under the Canadian flag to protect our country. The least we can do in their honour is to never fly a Canadian flag that is damaged.

Take a moment to check your flag. If it is damaged, please take it down and replace it -- an empty flagpole is better than a flagpole with a ripped or dirty Canadian flag on it.

If you want to show your pride, fly a flag that we can all be proud to see blowing in the wind -- a Canadian flag that is clean and not ripped to shreds.
